Tiny ballerina costume...check.

DSC_0178

I finished up Caroline's costume while watching football last night with Will after the girls were in bed. I found this great tutorial for the tutu and used this pattern to make the tiny ballerina shoes. The tutu took only 30 minutes to make and if you can tie a knot, you can make one too. It was that easy! The flower is actually a clip for her hair that I made using some remnant pieces of ribbon. I can't wait to take pictures of them in their outfits! Anna Cate was so excited when she woke up this morning and saw Caroline's costume sitting on the coffee table.

We've enjoyed a relaxing weekend of baking and sewing and I have some cute things to share! I'm off to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon, but will be back soon with a cute tutorial for something that Anna Cate and I worked on yesterday. ;)

  1. I made a tutu with that pattern a few weeks ago, and was amazed at how cute and easy it was :o) I've been thinking about purchasing the shoe pattern...what sizes does it come in and do you think it would be difficult to "expand" for a bigger girl?

  2. What sweet costumes, MC! Caroline's tiny ballet slippers are just precious. I asked for, and received, a sewing machine for Christmas to learn to make curtains and other things around the house, but my intention is to be good enough to make cute clothes and costumes when I have children of my own. There is something so special about homemade costumes! Happy Halloween! :)

  3. Kelli,
I know! Those tutus were so easy to make I'm thinking they would make great party favors for one of the girls' birthday parties. :) As for the shoes, the pattern is really easy to follow and takes about half an hour to make (not bad) but I don't like that there isn't a closed seam around the top of the shoe. (If you look closely you'll see what I mean). I think the pattern they sell now goes up to 4 T?
